1)  Where is StampBug and how long have you been there?

StampBug is located in the beautiful Monterey Bay area of central California.  We are in the Laurel West Shopping Center in Salinas at 1006 N. Davis Rd.  Salinas is the home of John Steinbeck and the National Steinbeck Center.  It is a city of about 150,000 people.  My store is conveniently located right off Highway 101.  San Francisco is about 100 miles North.   Los Angeles is about 300 miles South.  We've recently moved (right next door to where we were for five years) into a new 2800 sq. ft. space and we love having this much room!

2)  Why did you decide to open a scrapbook store?

Actually, I purchased two existing stores from two separate owners who were co-leasing a storefront.   I first purchased the rubber stamping part of the store (thus the name, StampBug) a little over two years ago when the owner moved out of state. I had been a loyal customer and friend of hers. I had the opportunity to buy the scrapbooking part of the store (previously called A Scrapbook Store) a little over one year ago when that owner decided she wanted more time with her young children.  I've loved stamping for years and now have scrapbooking as a second passion!  What could be better than owning a scrapbook AND rubber stamp store!?

3)  What kind of products do you carry in your store?

I carry about 1000 different papers and cardstocks, tons of stickers, die-cuts (both laser and others), the latest embellishments and tools, lettering and layout templates, albums and refills, totes and organizers, quilling supplies, fibers, rubber stamps, ink pads, embossing powders, stamping tools, brass embossing templates, pens and lots more!

4)  What product are you most excited about right now?

I think the products that I'm most excited about are those that help busy scrappers quickly and easily embellish their pages.  The holiday Jolee's and all the new Rebecca Sower tags are terrific!  In fact, we are embellishment crazy at StampBug!  We have tons of eyelets, buttons, beads, etc.

5)  Do you offer any classes or crops?

Absolutely!  Classes and crops are an important part of life here at StampBug (we love any excuse to get together and crop or stamp!). We hold crops every other Friday night from 5-11 PM.  The store is open late for shopping on those nights.  At least a few times a year, we have all day crop/stamping days that last from 10 am - 10 pm.  We have stamping and scrapbooking classes 3 or 4 nights a week and usually Saturday mornings too.  These range from beginning classes to specific themes to new techniques.  Our class/workshop area can comfortably accomodate at least 18 people (24 if we want to get a little cozier!).

6)  Where do you see the future of scrapbooking heading?

I see it continuing to grow as more people realize it's absolutely the most wonderful way to preserve cherished memories of children, family, travel and even everyday life.  What I like best about it, and what we try to impart to our customers (our friends), is that it can be as simple or extravagant as you wish. It's a completely personal form of self-expression and creativity and anyone can do it!

THANK YOU BECKY!!!  When you stop by to visit StampBug make sure you tell them that Gotta Crop! sent you.
